Ironworker, 42, was walking on a jobsite when he was struck across the right shoulder by a 15′ scaffolding plank that had fallen from 2 stories above. He was knocked unconscious and sustained a torn shoulder rotator cuff tear. He returned to work after some time but overused his left arm to compensate for the lost strength in the right shoulder. This caused a left torn rotator cuff. Substantial permanent disability was established, and a negligence claim was filed against the contractor whose employees caused the plank to falll.
